Meet the projection activist who just trolled Elon Musk on Twitter’s headquarters
The man whose project is trying to take over Google’s satellite project, and who is known as “The Troll” due to his tendency to criticize the tech giant online, has now been caught up in a high-profile prank on Twitter, too.
After the company quietly launched a new version of its Google Maps app last year, the company told its community that it was rebranding it as “Project” as it went on with the changes.
The project was then followed a couple of months later by a tweet from Musk’s personal account, where he joked about naming it after the Star Wars character, “Yoda.” The internet was not amused and took to social media to troll the billionaire.
The Troll told BuzzFeed News about the prank, which he took part in while watching the 2019 Golden Globes.
“Elon Musk’s Twitter account is a constant source of amusement to many people and it is my duty to comment on whatever is happening with it each day,” the Troll wrote in an email. “I have a lot of respect for Musk, so after a while I decided to comment on one tweet that he sent out to his 7.4 million Twitter followers yesterday. I know you probably had several things to do on Sunday night, so this was something that I took a little bit of time out to look up. So if you happen to see anything that looks like it could be an old tweet from this time last year, please DM it to me and I will have a look.”
There was one obvious joke. The Troll said that the tweet was just a joke from the time that Musk sent it out, but the account was actually taken seriously.
“It is very clear that this is a serious tweet, made by Elon Musk on the day that he sent this one of his jokes to his 7.4 million followers,” the Troll said. “This
