Canada has one more game before turning its focus to 2026.
In the lead-up to the 2026 World Cup in Russian Federation, Canada will make one more visit to the country before its focus turns back to Russia in 2026.
The Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment Group (MLSE) announced the upcoming stop on Wednesday morning. The one-day tour will see three groups of MLS players with some of the best players in MLS visiting the country.
Toronto FC will head to Vladivostok for a match with their Russian counterparts, Volga Nizhny Novgorod. The visit will be part of the pre-tour camp in Canada with 20 players from their league meeting the Russians that will head to Moscow before the match.
The squad will see how the team and the league are working together and then return to Canada as part of the Toronto FC Academy Invitational. Toronto FC will be joined by Chicago Fire, Columbus Crew SC, Cincinnati, Montreal Impact, Philadelphia Union, Portland Timbers, San Jose Earthquakes, Seattle Sounders FC and Vancouver Whitecaps FC.
TFC Academy Invitational
On Wednesday, Toronto FC will have three Academy players join the team to visit their club and get a look into the club’s academy environment.
The final two TFC Academy players to be announced are goalkeeper Kevin Maguire and midfielder Tyler Adams. Maguire joins the club after a successful two years with the University of Michigan. He was recently named to the US Soccer Development Academy All-Americans Team. Adams is a player that played with the U-17 FC Cincinnati team.
The rest of the group is made up of players from Toronto FC’s Academy teams:
Goalkeeper Kevin Maguire – University of Michigan
Midfielder Tyler Adams – University of Michigan
Midfielder Liam Fraser – Toronto FC’s Academy
Midfielder Kadin Chung – Toronto FC’s Academy
Liam Fraser, Tyler Adams, and Kadin Chung are all the youngest of the bunch. Adams is 18, Chung is 23, and Fraser is 26. They are on their way to Canada to take part in an amazing opportunity.
We will have to see the young players perform in a meaningful game. The goalkeepers, Fraser and Adams, have shown their worth at times but we will see if they have a level they haven’t shown previously. For the most part, these three have shown their worth.
